choosing your size & gold

ring size

Sizing for a ring can be tricky as fingers can change size a bit depending on the time of day, or the weather! Your ring should fit snugly over the knuckle and comfortably on the finger, and shouldn’t slip off too easily. Before ordering your ring, ensure you know your size - if local to Dundee, please contact Holly who will be happy to arrange an appointment at the studios with you to measure you. If you’re ordering from further away, any jeweller local to you should be happy to check this for you - just pop in to one nearby.

If you check your size, order your ring and still feel it isn’t quite right once received, Holly will be happy to resize your ring for you to ensure a perfect fit.

gold carat and colour

Holly’s work is available in 9ct or 18ct, yellow or white recycled gold. White gold jewellery is often rhodium plated - this gives the piece a bright white, platinum like look - and this requires re-plating every few years, as it wears. The soft colour of white gold is beautiful in its natural state, so jewellery pieces ordered from the online shop are proudly unplated (unless otherwise requested).

Examples of each gold colour can be seen to the left, however please note monitors may show colours slightly differently and what you see on screen may not be representative of the gold in real life. 18ct yellow gold is a rich and bright yellow, whereas 9ct yellow gold is a paler yellow. 9ct white gold has a silvery look with a beautiful warm tint to it, and 18ct white gold has a deeper grey tone with a luxurious warmth.
